About the Owner
Hi, I’m Jenna (she/they), owner of The Unreliable Narrator. I first opened my doors in the summer of 2018 as “Element of Fun”, a children’s bookstore and toy shop. Over time, the shop evolved and expanded, becoming what it is today: The Unreliable Narrator, a queer-owned independent bookstore and gift shop with a little bit of everything*.
My goal has always been to create more than a place to buy books. I wanted to curate a space for Rochester's queer and creative community to come together, share ideas, and support one another. Thanks to you, the shop has become just that!
No matter what brings you in, I hope you find something here that surprises you, inspires you, or just keeps you good company for a while!
